For my photo shoot I will be arranging a get together with a few of my friends that will all be put in different situations with guitars so that I could use them for my front cover/double page spread.

I will try to get my friends to pose in the positions shown in my mock up design of the magazine, this makes it possible for me to get a more accurate depiction of my front cover that I had planned for my magazine, and will allow me to have a variety of people to show for my band and various stories on the front page, and I will need my band members to have a guitar, for the front page image. I will also be able to use my friends for this as when I imagined my front cover I had a specific idea of what I wanted it to look like and what I wanted my friends to be in the front cover.

I’ll be using a guitar and a few other relevant instrument props so that it’s very obvious it’s a band and not misunderstood for anything els. So this would make it much more obvious what the purpose of the pictures are for and also what the whole magazines purpose is.

For all the pictures that I will be taking I may not use props in all of the photo’s because not all the stories on the main pages are of bands playing, also I’ve been researching other magazines and been able to see that not all of images on the screen are full of instruments

I will also use many different camera angles to make my pictures be much more intuitive and exciting, I’ll try to use a worms eye view to show the model playing on the guitar, and some medium close ups, and medium shots of the whole person, I’ll probably make the images black and white and black out the background, so the person I’ll be using will be the centre of attention on the front page, this will make it so that the model is the centre of attention.

I think I’ll probably get a picture of 2 members of the band together, as my models are actually skilled at playing the instruments I’ll have pictures of them playing, probably in a park or against a tree, to show that bands aren’t always stocked up doing gigs etc.

These are the pictures that I have decided to use in the magazine that I'll be creating, this may not be what the pictures look like exactly when I've finished editing all of the pictures and coming up with the different ways that I'd like the pictures to be shown in the magazine.

Picture 1 - I'll be editing picture 1 and using it on my main page, this is because I feel that the picture shows the model playing an instrument and looking right into the camera, this could catch the eye of anyone who would look at the camera, and the model is also surrounded by an amp and a acoustic guitar, this clearly shows that the instrument that the model would play in the band being featured would be a guitar.

Picture 2 - I was planning on using picture 2 as the manager of the band, the pictures purpose would be to get the reader to turn over the page to go to the next story, possibly a story the manager would have told in an interview about some concerns that he may have about the band, and where he sees them going, this could help to keep the attention of the decoder, and make them want to read the magazine much more.

Picture 3 - I was considering using picture 3 as a drug problem, as the model in the photo looks like he's on drugs, I purposely chose to do this as it creates an aspect of drama to the magazine, and drama makes people want to read the story, this can act as an incentive for people to buy the magazine, and would be keep the attention of the decoder, and make them want to read on.

Picture 4 - I'm not too sure at the moment what I will do exactly with picture 4, however it will be on the double page spread that I'll be making, this will probably be the centre piece of the whole article, but I will probably edit it and black scale him down to be a cool looking outline, with a professional feel.

I have decided to go with this layout because of a few reasons. I decided to go with the model in the middle of the page because this would make the model the centre of attention, this would make it obvious for the target audience that they're what the writing on the article is about, they should be able to recognise that the main person is from a band.

I thought that I'd have the model centred because then I could have the writing bend around the picture. I got this idea from a Rolling Stones double page spread, this gave me the idea that having a few pictures could really keep the interest of the reader, because it allows them to constantly be able to see something new, and make them want to read on more about the other articles.the pictures shouldn't fully blend in with the page as they would then become part of the background to the double page spread, this could then cause them to not generate as much interest, this could make the decoder start to lose interest with the magazine quickly, and they might not want to purchase it again in the future because they found it boring.

Throughout the double page spread I will try and make the writing interesting and relevant, so that the decoder is able to read about the musician that they would have purchased the magazine to read about, instead of having to read through many pages of text to find the bit they're actually interested in, to help the decoder find what they want to read, I will include some intertetual links, this will be done by having a clear and easy to read heading at the top of the double page spread, so that the decoder easily knows what each page is about. 

I will also use a variety of colours throughout the magazine double page spread, as the use of the different colours could make it much easier for the decoder to find the information that they would be looking for, such as i will change the replies from the artist in the interview from to yellow, so you can easily find the start and end of the interview that will be had, this makes it much more decoder friendly, and I will also have the title of the pages in red, as that would then be able to make the page much easier to understand what each page is, and also keeps the feel of a the Rock theme.

These are the pictures that I have taken, and will use some of these photos throughout the magazine, and I will try and make it so the images blend very well in the background, this should be a challenge but I am prepared to spend some time working on the magazine, results will follow.

Where? – I will be taking the pictures for my magazine at school, this is because I would like to have a white background to my pictures, so that I could easily edit the backgrounds to anything that I feel would fit, and the school has many rooms with just white walls. Also you can get a lot of instruments at school for props for the pictures, so that it would make it more suitable for  

For the photo shoot, I will use the same model throughout the entirety of the magazine, and they will be "The band" this helps keep familiarity with the magazine.

For the photo shoot I will have the models that I am using perform in the poses that have been shown on my front page mock up, so that it would be much easier to recreate the most magazine, and do it in an eye catching way, that could prompt the target audience to purchase the magazine, so that they could see what else is in the magazine. I will be using a few of my piers as models for my magazine, this can be helpful as I would be able to get a large variety of pictures, and from this variety I could possibly find a picture that may be better suited to the front cover than I had originally expected them to be.

I could also get my model to pose with an instrument, this would help for the picture to create a much more authentic feel to it, as nearly every other magazine that I had looked at whilst researching them that had an artist on the front page, seemed to have an instrument or talk about the artists band on the front cover, because of this, I feel that it is very necessary that my model be using a guitar or other instrument that leaves no confusion to what they're supposed to be.

Props will not be used for every single picture that I will take, this is because when someone is in a band, they do not carry their instruments around with them, as they would only really have them when they're getting ready to play a show, because of this not all the pictures that I will be taking will have an instrument with them, as it would not be necessary to have one in every picture, and could make the picture quite irrelevant.

As well as taking pictures, I will also have to consider all the different camera angles that I would have to do for the shots that would be needed for the magazine. The usage of camera angles on the model could make sure that the pictures aren't just boring, straight on, but instead would create a different feel and give a better impression of the model, this could change the feel of the magazine front cover depending on how the image is taken.

I was thinking that for the shot of the model I would get a full body shot of the main artist, playing their instrument, this would then be put onto the front page as the main article picture, as many magazines have either a medium shot or a long shot of their main article feature, so this will help to create the feel of this.
